The Process

  • CANVAS PREPARATION

    • Coat with 'several' coats of Gesso solution to obtain desired surface.

    • Add 'Crinkle' gel for the aging process

    • Sand surface

  • PHOTO CONVERSION

    • Photo is converted to a 'poster type’ form

  • THE DRAWING

    • Carbon paper placed on canvas

    • Poster placed over carbon paper

    • Outline is traced onto canvas to ensure exact proportion

    • The outline is then hand-shaded to add dimension

    • Vital areas are sprayed with varnish prior to painting to prevent smearing during painting.

    • The photo itself (or on a device) and the poster are used for reference during the painting process.

    • After the work is finished several coats of Archival Varnish are applied to enhance and protect the painting.
