The Process

-
CANVAS PREPARATION
Coat with 'several' coats of Gesso solution to obtain desired surface.
Add 'Crinkle' gel for the aging process
Sand surface
-
PHOTO CONVERSION
Photo is converted to a 'poster type’ form
-
THE DRAWING
Carbon paper placed on canvas
Poster placed over carbon paper
Outline is traced onto canvas to ensure exact proportion
The outline is then hand-shaded to add dimension
Vital areas are sprayed with varnish prior to painting to prevent smearing during painting.
The photo itself (or on a device) and the poster are used for reference during the painting process.
After the work is finished several coats of Archival Varnish are applied to enhance and protect the painting.
