About
Richard G Carr / AKA: RG Carr or RG
Paintings: “RG’s”
RG has been putting paint on canvass since 1988. During his stay, at that time, in NYC he was ‘forced’ to find a new passion as the weather dictated he find an ‘indoor’ endeavor. In relocating back to SoCal, painting became an on and off again part of his life. Until, he was ‘forced to paint’ once more due to the ‘shelter in place’ order with the onset of the worldwide pandemic.
Developing his trade evolves with a continual quest to improve. Through arduous reading, online courses, touring museums around the country and interaction with other artists RG has developed a technique that enables him to reproduce the ‘masterpieces’ of the great artists throughout history.
All of the great ‘masters’ had their own style, techniques, materials, environments and influences and certainly each of their works are unique, famous and most priceless. From Rembrandt, Vermeer, Gainsborough, Lawrence, Reynolds, da Vinci, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Sargent and many others for the most part, their works hang in either a museum or a private collection. To RG, that limits one’s ability to enjoy the beauty, emotion, and splendor of the subjects the original artist portrayed in a more personal experience. Thus, although a ‘reproduction’ again is never meant to pass for an original, RG’s canvass preparation, painting style and ‘aging’ process lets the viewer live a vicarial relationship with their very own ‘one of a kind’ historical replica.
